The Holy Grail of Brain Food

The Holy Grail of Brain Food

Many of us are getting older and most of us are most likely just fine. We might need to lose a few pounds which appears to be the link between healthy blood pressure and cholesterol levels.  However, all of us have someone in our family or know someone who has Alzheimer disease or has suffered some type of brain injury.   If you are not aware of what you are about to read, prepare to be dazzled.

There is a “Holy Grail of Brain Food”,  for sustaining what you have,  and repairing the brain, when needed.  Based on this, there have been clinical studies,  indicating the repair of head trauma in rats.  They do not exactly tell you how they do it, but, apparently some of the rats are getting a good “beat down” in the head for the test.  Then they are administered pharmaceutical grade Omega 3.   The rats without the Omega 3 intervention, end up like Rocky Balboa, after a round with Clubber Lang.   The rats administered Omega 3,  experience an almost complete recovery from the brain injury!

In the past, a brain injury was a ticket to “wait and see” medical protocols.  With the advent of Omega 3 research, it has been discovered it not only repairs neurological connections, but rebuilds gray matter in the brain.

Grey matter (or gray matter) is a major component of the central nervous system, consisting of neuronal cell bodies, neuropil (dendrites and unmyelinated axons), glial cells (astroglia and oligodendrocytes) and capillaries. Grey matter contains neural cell bodies, in contrast to white matter, which does not and mostly contains myelinated axon tracts.[1] The color difference arises mainly from the whiteness of myelin. In living tissue, grey matter actually has a grey-brown color, which comes from capillary blood vessels and neuronal cell bodies.

The best and most miraculous evidence is the case of Randal McCloy, the sole survivor of the Sago Coal Mine disaster, in West Virginia in 2007.  The world followed the story of this collapsed Mine because he was the only survivor.  He suffered with extreme carbon monoxide poisoning and was not expected to recover. I remember when he was in the coma, and doctors were saying if he did awaken, he would most likely be a vegetable.

His primary physician Julian Bailes, M.D. of  West Virginia University, made the unprecedented decision to administer daily mega doses (over 12,000 milligrams) of Omega 3 intravenously. Pumping through his blood stream were two key ingredients omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA). Weeks into the protocol he inexplicably (to the medical world) awoke from his coma.  And again, weeks later I saw him on a news conference explaining what he remembered!

The best way to incorporate Omega 3 into your system is through the right foods.  Salmon is the most richest source of Omega 3 explaining why bears remember the best rivers to catch them! I am not sure about that one!  Also, Flax Seed is another rich source of Omega 3. You can also incorporate supplements with Omega 3.  Do your own research and you will find more interesting research from the benefits of Omega 3.

The latest development is Omega 3 combats depression. I will keep you posted . . .
