New Zealand: Mount Tongariro Errupts!

Send to Kindle

After 115 years of dormancy New Zealands’s Mount Tongariro blows its top!  There was no warning before this dormant volcano reawakened and volcanic ash blanketed homes and cars.  This could just be the beginning because many eruptions follow the first.  It could be the beginning of a series of more powerful eruptions.  How much would you like to bet a solar eruption is related to this?

This volcanic activity is very disconcerting because no prior activity has been recorded in over a century.  The sulpher and volcanic ash poses a real threat to biological life in the area.  The last time this particular volcano erupted was in 1887 and it was made popular by the Lord of the Rings trilogy where many scenes were filmed.
