Saturday Night Live Mocks Jesus

I can only imagine if this was the Middle East and SNL spoofed Muhammad in a sketch comedy as they do. Lorne Michaels would be beheaded and the rest of the cast would be dragged through the streets butt naked by donkey or motor vehicle.  Many Christian organizations are outraged and rightly so. As it is, the Son of God does not get much TV time and when He does he is usually mocked.

I remember 7 years back Mad TV did a sketch of the Terminator being sent back in time to save Jesus.  The Terminator arrives blasting Romans away with a shotgun who were in the process of apprehending Jesus and reaches his hand out to Jesus and says, “Come with me if you want to live!” The irony alone made me laugh.  This sketch was quite different. The undercurrent of the sketch is piggy backing on Quentin Tarantino movies and his latest Django Unchained.

Where Taratantino most likely set a Guinness Book of Record using the “N” word in a movie.  Many Black Americans have been vocally opposing Tarantino’s use of the “N” word because he has yet to make a move using racial epithets against his own race.  His movie creativity seems to thrive on the use and controversy of the “N’ word.  I challenge him to visit certain Harlem neighborhoods and use the “N” word to see the ramifications of this psychologically oppressive word.

The mockery of even associating Christ with Tarantino’s body of work is unsettling. We are living in times where Jesus needs to be promoted in a positive manner and SNL clearly overlooked this. The skit basically humanized Christ as a revengeful blood thirsty god who stops at nothing for revenge.  Of course this behavior is in direct conflict with His Spiritual teachings.

2 Peter 3:3 – Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires.

Most people will argue this is nothing more than comedy and meant no harm; however, there seems to be a double standard when mocking Allah vs Christ.  There appears to be greater media discretion, integrity and respect when it comes to Allah. Let’s see if SNL is brave enough to mock Allah next.  We know this will never happen for Jesus appears to be the target of mockery.

This double standard is by design because the God of the Bible is considered a joke to SNL and there are no boundaries when it comes to Jesus. The media does not fear reprisals because even Christ forgives them for they know not what they do.  Sometime in the future everyone will receive their “spiritual-bill” and then you will see what payment is due.
