Siri iPhone: Gates of Hades Will Open 2014

Darrin McBreen, of InfoWars.com, released a fear-bating story today on an ominous response from iPhone’s Siri. He demonstrated when he asked Siri, “What is July 27, 2014?” Siri, pauses and retrieves the answer from her database, “It’s Sunday, July 27, 2014 (Opening Gates of Hades). Next the blog-sphere goes bananas as if a programmer driven database is in league with the devil. Firstly, why would anyone pick an arbitrary date like July 27, 2014 to ask Siri?

The fear weavers at InfoWars.com have since removed this video because they look foolish and silly

Secondarily, was there any investigative journalism executed by Darrin McBreen? He does presumptuously suggest Siri is now making Biblical predictions.  Let’s emphasize that Siri is connected to a “cloud” server which is populated by programmers. In my opinion this illustrates InfoWars.com is in the business of fear peddling and fundamental journalism has eluded this particular story. I have been gifted with a well spring of “common sense” so I decided to investigate if there is an earthly reason the Siri programmers would believe “the gates of hell would open” on July 27, 2014

In Chinese tradition, the fifteenth day of the seventh month in the lunar calendar is called Ghost Day and the seventh month in general is regarded as the Ghost Month, in which ghosts and spirits, including those of the deceased ancestors, come out from the lower realm. Distinct from both the Qingming Festival (in spring) and Chung Yeung Festival (in autumn) in which living descendants pay homage to their deceased ancestors, on Ghost Day, the deceased are believed to visit the living.

I quickly discovered this is an ancient tradition with an Asian origin. It is known as the “Ghost Festival” and also “Hungry Ghost Festival.” Every year in the month of July, the Chinese and many of their countries honor this tradition. It is said, on the fifteenth day the realms of Heaven and Hell and the realm of the living are open and both Taoists and Buddhists would perform rituals to transmute and absolve the sufferings of the deceased.

The real story here is InfoWars.com because this story is a representation of one-sided journalism with the intention to sell “the sky is falling” tickets. Just to mention the Bible in this story is a travesty to Biblical prophecy. Does Darrin really believe Christians are this gullible? I believe he does. As if Siri, is going to have prophetic answers for us after being programmed by men hopped up on Red Bull and nicotine. I have some advice for you Darrin next time ask Siri, “What is good journalism/reporting?”
