Noah Movie: Fumbling the Ancient Facts

Noah Movie: Fumbling the Ancient Facts

Watching the movie Noah recently was very disheartening. It was no secret the movie would be biblically and historically inaccurate and a great deal of artistic liberty would be taken with the story line. Especially since an atheist was at the helm of this piece of work! The portraits painted in this film left hanging in the minds of moviegoers of Noah, “the watchers” (fallen angels) including Almighty God, are an absolute deception.

This film painted God as a hateful, angry environmentalist and that mankind had pillaged earth’s natural resources and eaten most animals into extinction… then began eating each other. Because of this, man had to be destroyed so the earth and all the animals could exist without man’s intervention. Noah and his family were portrayed as Godly environmentalist following God’s unspoken will by building an ark to save the animals from the flood and repopulate the earth afterward. They were basically PETA with a huge boat!

Noah believed God wanted man to die off after the flood and his family would be the last humans to inhabit the earth. Noah held this belief to the point that he was willing to kill his twin granddaughters immediately after their birth to ensure man’s extinction. The movie held that rebellious angels looked down from heaven and had pity on man after Adam and Eve sinned because God had abandoned them.

Gen 6:2

That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

So they descended to earth to watch over and help man. The fallen angels, depicted as rock people in the movie, taught man how to build cities and destroy the earth. The fallen angels were depicted as friends of Noah who watched over and protected Noah. The fallen angels even helped Noah build the ark, but were killed by violent, wicked mankind in the end. The filmmaker essentially used the names of the characters in the story of Noah and rewrote the rest.

Granted most books and stories are terribly misrepresented once they make the transformation to the big screen, but there is usually a loose connection to the original story line. The minute truths in the film Noah are limited to character names, a flood, and an ark. The characterizations of these elements are, however, misleading. There is no doubt that the enemy is fully aware of how uneducated many believers are to the Word of God and who God is, and he is exploiting that lack of knowledge to deceive.

Most will likely swallow this lie hook, line, and sinker with excitement that Hollywood is making a movie based on the Bible. Conversely, the depiction of God in the movie reinforces the feeling of disdain for the Most High that has become quite prevalent in society, effectively hardening the hearts of man toward the loving and gracious Creator.

The story of Noah and the ark takes up very little real estate in the Bible but it is crucial to understanding God’s plan for the redemption of mankind from eternal damnation after sin entered the world. Strange as it may seem, God’s love for humanity is the reason he destroyed the earth’s inhabitants with a flood. The Bible and the extra canonical book Enoch record how fallen angels descended to earth and mated with human women and animals. Human and animal DNA was corrupted in the resulting offspring of these unholy unions. The hearts of mankind were also corrupted and very evil.

Gen 6:5

And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

The earliest report of Fallen Angels is found in the Book of Enoch (6 ff.): The sons of heaven, who belonged to the “guardian” angels, had lusted for the beauty of the daughters of men and in the time of Jared decided to descend upon Mt. Hermon to carry out their plans from there. There were two hundred of them and their leader was Shemhazai; he made them swear an oath (ḥerem) to adhere to their purpose and it was this oath that gave the mountain its name – Hermon.

They consorted with the daughters of men, who gave birth to a generation of giants who set about mercilessly destroying human beings. The Fallen Angels also taught man the use of weapons and other tools promoting immorality and crime. In this manner a demonic wisdom came into being, in addition to Divine wisdom, and this led to the corruption of mankind. Moved by man’s outcry, the four archangels appealed to God and were given the order to punish the Fallen Angels.

Later there is a resumé of this episode in Chapter 69, where the Fallen Angel Jeqôn was blamed for the downfall of all the angels. Each of the Fallen Angels taught mankind a particular evil or perversion, thus destroying mankind’s innocence (69:1 ff.). In order to preserve human DNA and ensure an uncorrupted bloodline for the redeemer to descend from, all corrupted DNA had to be destroyed. According to the Bible, Noah’s bloodline had not been corrupted by angelic infusion. – Source

Gen 6:8-9

But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.

Noah also loved God and walked with God. This is so important to understand. God told Noah to build an ark for him and his family and the animals that were to be preserved, and he told Noah why this was necessary. God did not leave Noah guessing or feeling abandoned. God loved Noah! God’s purpose was not to destroy man entirely but to preserve a righteous remnant to repopulate the earth.

The fallen angels were and are not friends to the human race. They seek our destruction and eternal damnation. Their scheme was to pollute human DNA entirely, thwarting God’s plan to send his son Jesus to live as perfect man and be the blood sacrifice to redeem humanity from their sin. Thus displaying that God’s love for man is limitless. God loves us so much that he destroyed the earth with a flood and sacrificed his only son to ensure our redemption from eternal damnation.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

As believers all of this should be common knowledge, but it is not. So few believers know what is in the Bible or how it applies to them. Most people, believer and unbeliever alike, hold to the notion that man was dreadfully sinful and God had had enough, so he killed everyone with a flood. This notion couldn’t be further from the truth.

The Word of God is replete with evidence of God’s grace and mercy toward mankind. It is tragic that an atheist can come along and made a movie that will have great impact shaping the opinions of believers and nonbelievers that God is mean, hateful, and vengeful and worse yet that God has more concern for earth and the animals than mankind whom he created in his own image. Grade for the Noah movie – F.

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
