The Avengers and Ancient Men of Renown?

As Marvel Entertainment builds up more steam for their future summer 2015 blockbuster, “Avengers 2: Age of Ultron,” I am left with many questions. The more I watch the super hero genre unfold on the silver screen the more suspicious I am becoming. You see these super heroes are not anything new! The ancients had a simpler moniker for the “superhero” label, which was simply hero or men of renown. The prophets of the Bible knew of the  “baby daddies” of these men of renown and it was obvious to them why they possessed superhuman powers.

Genesis 6:4

The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown.

If you think about it,  these comic books are a celebration of men of renown and also giving glory to the “fallen” angels. I cannot help to think how the omission of the ancient origin of “superheroes” coupled with new and emerging super hero movies is breeding a fascination with superhuman abilities. When one day this very thing will be presented to us and we will rally around this trojan horse with wonder and amazement. Only to realize the stark reality is that the Bible warns us who and exactly what they really are. They have been with us a very very long time.

Now I am not saying I will not be at this movie the day it comes out with my three sons! What I am saying is: We must be carefully inspect what is being promoted and beamed into our minds. No matter how old you were when you owned comic books; there are many channels to conditioning the human mind. How come no one makes a movie about Jesus returning as a “superhero” and squashing everybody who denied His Kingdom? Jesus would just dispatch His angels on anything in His path and mass destruction will ensue. Just remember this spiritual war’s foundation is deception so always sleep with one spiritual eye open!

In closing, this movie will probably be better than the first one if you can believe that! Just having “The Vision” in it alone is a game changer. You can see by my writing this movie will be good. Additionally, there is a certain amount of celebration from comic book aficionados watching comics beamed onto movie screens. Where is my spiritual voice in this? I am aware we are being conditioned to see super humans one day just like everyone has a “Star Trek communicator” on them today. Remember all the superheroes in the world cannot save you on the Day of the Lord!
