Split: The POWER of BELIEF

Split: The POWER of BELIEF

Last weekend I piled the boys into the truck and took them to see the movie Split. This movie was directed by M. Night Shamayla and was produced on a modest Hollywood budget of nine million dollars. It stars James McAvoy, who is better known as the younger Professor X and break out star Anya Taylor-Joy, from the movie, “The Witch.” If you have not seen “The Witch” yet, please do, but not in the dark or without some else in the house, or a shotgun, and a pit bull.

Split, is movie about a patient suffering with the psychosis defined as “Dissociation Identity Disorder”  played by James McAvoy. He has 24 personalities and the final one is known as “The Horde.” He kidnaps 3 teenage girls and the girl with the best survival instincts is played by Anya Taylor-Joy. The characters are well acted and James McAvoy holds the movie together with range of characters which leave an indelible impression on the observer.

The undercurrent of this fascinating movie is the power of belief and the power of the human mind. The movie reveals one of the personalities of McAvoy is diabetic and requires insulin. The movie promotes the human mind has the power to alter the chemistry of the human body. This movie is certainly art imitating life because the world is full of examples of this very thing. Many people are familiar with Shaolin Monks who demonstrate amazing feats by focusing the power of their mind. Steel swords have been broken by the very skin of the Shaolin Monks.

One of the most famous examples from mortal men regarding the power of belief is demonstrated by Peter in the Bible. For a brief moment in time he believed so intensely in the teachings of his Master, Jesus Christ, he was able to walk on water. Now I know the Gnostics reading this post will submit that story is coded and really represents Peter was “walking” on the “water” of the “brain”, but we have seen modern day Magicians perform this very feat. Is it truly possible to change the molecular structure of our bodies and reduce our body mass to that of a feather? The movie “Split” touches upon this belief where a man’s skin can repel a direct shotgun blast.

In the ancient Egyptian culture citizens were students until they were 40 years old and upon graduation they were considered spiritually, one years old. The Egyptian, Luxor Temple, represents the body of man. Students were required to spend years in each part of the body. Through this knowledge the ancient Egyptians were said to be able to control their entire bodies…like McAvoy in Split. Jesus Christ, demonstrated this very thing on several occasions to the point he could change His facial characteristics.

I believe this is the reason no one (to my knowledge) has been able to demonstrate any of the powers that Christ or His Disciples did on a regular basis. The masses have relegated the power of Christ to being really nice or filled with the Holy Spirit involving temporary seizures and babbling. Yet, none of them can replicate any miracle in the Bible. Christ called the Holy Spirit the “Helper”, but the only “Helper” I see is used in hamburger meat. Belief should be so strong you could murder your own child if tested! Can you imagine the belief of Abraham driving him to kill his own son?

“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it." - John 14:12-14

The Bible is a spiritual book coded for those worthy enough to be blessed with discernment. Believing in these invisible spiritual laws is the first step. Knowing how to apply them is the secret coupled with belief. Split, was an amazing cerebral movie with many lessons on belief. We all have access to great Power as promised by Jesus Christ who demonstrated what we are all capable of…if we truly believe in Him and His lessons.
