Trump…What Happens Next Election?

This post for me is not terribly heart felt, but at the same time watching this presidency play out has been quite entertaining at best and absurdly ridiculous at worst. I don’t really participate politically, and I have less than patriotic views of the US political process. That said there is a palpable sense of insecurity and feelings of uncertainty in the air since Donald Trump has taken office. What can possibly follow the likes of Donald Trump as leader of the free world?

In a conversation with my husband on the subject, he speculated that it was unlikely that Trump would run again, and there has been conjecture in the media to this tune as well. Perhaps this is true, time will tell. What is certain, although, is that Trump won the presidency by unconventional means using methods not employed by candidates before him. I wouldn’t go as far as calling it vote rigging, but the lines got awfully blurry when the Trump campaign employed the use of psychometrics and big data to target voters in key states on social media to win the election. You might be wondering how this is possible…in short, your Facebook activity tells on you.

“…on the basis of an average of 68 Facebook "likes" by a user, it was possible to predict their skin color (with 95 percent accuracy), their sexual orientation (88 percent accuracy), and their affiliation to the Democratic or Republican party (85 percent). But it didn't stop there. Intelligence, religious affiliation, as well as alcohol, cigarette and drug use, could all be determined. From the data it was even possible to deduce whether someone's parents were divorced. (Source) “

So, what does this have to do with Trump running for office again or not? I’m not sure if it’s about running for office so much as taking the office, by force if he so desires. As a bystander who did not vote for any candidate, I am disturbed by some of the things Trump has said and done. Trump is very clever and equally unorthodox in his execution of the office of president of the United States. Not only clever and unorthodox, Trump is unstable. He displays an heir of being above the law and unmoved by what is true if it doesn’t fit his agenda. If there is not an alternate truth available, he manufactures one. He surrounds himself with people at least as clever and unorthodox as himself if not more so.

This is what underlies the impending sense of uncertainty. It’s almost as if the office of president has been defiled or reduced leaving the citizens wondering where we go from here. It seems unlikely that Trump will serve his 4 your term and then fade off into the distance like many of his predecessors. He is not the sort that just fades. He is every bit unpredictable and easy to read all at the same time. Knowing the unorthodox methods employed to win the last election gives insight into what the future may hold in 2020. Taking the office of president by force seems like a real possibility for this man. The means he might employ are unknown, but there is a willingness in the ever-growing fringes of society to aid in such a forceful attempt.

The only response a to forceful attempt to take the office of president is military coup de tat. Who would have ever thought of such a scenario in the United States? It has never been an imaginable scenario, but Trump induces visions of the unthinkable. It is prudent to point out the fringe does not stand a chance against the US military, no way, no how. The fringe wouldn’t even be able to stand against the Department of Homeland Security, they are too well armed and possess advanced technical capabilities that the fringe does not. I truly hope I am wrong about this, but it feels like we have reached a point of no return.

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
