What Happens When the Silver Cord Snaps?

The New Age doctrines are shamelessly given credit for what has Biblical origins. I always say what is labeled New Age is actually Old Age and by that I mean Biblical in nature. The New Age doctrine expeditiously promotes astral travel and teaches an etheric “silver cord” keeps the astral body tethered to the physical body. Dr.Rick Strassman, a pioneer in DMT research claims the brain releases a small does of DMT when we dream and major dose at death.

This burst of DMT allows the astral body to separate from the physical body when we dream and the silver cord allows us to return to our body. The silver cord is self-lengthening and accompanies the soul throughout its escapades throughout the spirit realm. Ironically, the New Age gets credit for the silver chord and the New Age beliefs were birthed in the 1970s. In truth the Bible speaks of the silver cord in the Book of Ecclesiastes.

In Ecclesiastes 12:6-7, it states, 6 Remember him—before the silver cord is severed, and the golden bowl is broken, before the pitcher is shattered at the spring, and the wheel broken at the well, 7 and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it. You will read many New Age books that speak of the silver cord but rarely if ever give credit to the Bible. In my opinion that is omission and omissions are just as bad as lies.

What Ecclesiastes 12:6-7, is telling us it is the end of the rope scenario. If the silver cord is severed the soul is permanently separated from the body. This verse is a warning to the souls of the Earth. We are being advised to remember the Most High and that is a tall order. When we are born we lose our spirit realm memories and part of our journey here on Earth is realizing we are spiritual beings having a human experience.

The Word makes it clear the Most High knew us before we began gestation in the womb! Jeremiah 1:5, teaches, 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Now if we return to verse in Ecclesiastes we are advised to remember Him before the silver cord is severed; and some say all these spiritual components are all metaphors; as defined by the Masonic Dictionary. The silver cord is really the spine, the golden bowl the brain, the pitcher carries the blood, and the wheel is the great artery transporting blood from the heart. Who said the writers of the Bible were not poetic?

Whatever the case Ecclesiastes is about the physical death of a person and the directive to remember Him before this day. For the life of me I cannot escape the belief the silver cord is an actual spiritual component for travel like a spiritual umbilical cord. It just makes sense and I understand other interpretations, but I believe the other components must have a spiritual modus operandi as well. Perhaps I am in error with this belief but returning to dust emphatically means the death of the physical body. The moral of the verse is to return to the Most High before this day happens.
