Revelation 16:12 Fulfilled!

Revelation 16:12 Fulfilled!

What if I told you over one thousand years ago a prophet received a vision from the Holy Spirit in the “Last Days” the Euphrates River will dry up? Did you know July 2009 this in fact did happen? The New York Times even ran a story on this.

The front page of the New York Times had a stunning headline (if you follow Biblical prophecy): “Iraq Suffers as the Euphrates River Dwindles.” The drying up of this historic river in the land of ancient Babylon is so stunning, that even the New York Times had to note that Bible prophecy says this will happen in the “End Times” of history, which lead up to the apocalyptic battle of Armageddon described in the Book of Revelation.

“Throughout the marshes, the reed gatherers, standing on land they once floated over, cry out to visitors in a passing boat. ‘Maaku mai!’ they shout, holding up their rusty sickles. ‘There is no water!’ The Euphrates is drying up.

Strangled by the water policies of Iraq’s neighbors, Turkey (Ataturk Dam in Turkey, completed in 1990, can hold back the Euphrates to a trickle) and Syria; a two-year drought; and years of misuse by Iraq and its farmers, the river is significantly smaller than it was just a few years ago. Some officials worry that it could soon be half of what it is now. The shrinking of the Euphrates, a river so crucial to the birth of civilization is drying up is a sign of the end times, has decimated farms along its banks, has left fishermen impoverished and has depleted riverside towns as farmers flee to the cities looking for work.

Revelation 16:12

Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great Euphrates River, and it dried up so that the kings from the east could march their armies toward the west without hindrance.

Many people like to argue about this spot-on in your face Biblical prophecy and say, “So what there are lots of rivers!”  This is exactly point, there are lots of rivers but the prophecy declares the exact river which will dry up. Based on a Single Event Probability and the number of (current) rivers being 194,  John had a 99% chance of being wrong! There are other rivers still flowing from ancient times but John’s Holy Spirit inspired vision declared the exact river. What is even more telling is the drying up of the river allows a mobile infantry the ability to march directly to Israel.

Not much else to say, is there?  It is what it is.
