Celestial Guideposts: Understanding Appointed Times

Celestial Guideposts: Understanding Appointed Times

So, a lot of people believe we are living in the end times as described in scripture. This belief is largely based on the seeming apocalyptic events that have been happening the last several years. There have been several strange weather events, regional conflict, wars and rumors of wars abound, weird noises and meteor sightings, and strange things among world leaders. But do these things equal the Biblical last days though?

Scripture gives quite a few indicators of end time events. So, I don’t think we can really determine that we are living in the end times solely by judging the events on the ground. There have been many periods in history when really bad things were happening and I can guarantee you that the people living through those periods of history thought they were living in the end times too, World War I & II for example.

An important thing to keep in mind is that the times and ages of mankind have been predetermined by the Most High and are not marked by the actions of man. There is a lot of emphasis put on what the elite are scheming, or what the leaders and governments of different nations and peoples are doing. We must not look to these people or things to inform what can only be discerned spiritually or through guidance left to us in scripture by the Most High.

Christ told us that the time of his return would resemble the times of Noah.

Matthew 24:37

For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

There are a couple of things to examine when we look at the days of Noah. If you do any research into the times of Noah from a scriptural stand point, the only information you will likely turn up concerns the Nephilim (or giants) in Genesis 6.

Genesis 6:4

The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown.

There is a plethora of information available about this topic. The short version is that fallen angels descended to earth and mated with human women and produced giants\Nephilim. Other historical accounts also describe these beings engaging in genetic manipulation in an attempt to corrupt the gene pool eliminating a way for the redeemer to born of uncorrupted human DNA. There was also a general atmosphere of violence and debauchery.

This aspect of the days of Noah is usually the focus of the scripture as related to the last days. There is, although, another aspect of the days of Noah that gets little attention and is often overlooked entirely. Extra biblical historical texts like the Book of Jasher contain great detail of the life of Noah after the flood. Noah was a contemporary of Nimrod, the fella who built the tower of Babel and attempted to create the first one world religion\one world economy\and one world government. Sound familiar?

This is what we see happening, now, on the world stage. It is very subtle, subversive, and deeply entrenched. Most are completely blind and unaware of it. Even worse you are probably thought of as a fringe nut job for believing this. Call me nuts, I guess.

The influences of ancient Babylon have been reborn in our time and govern many aspects of our lives. Evidence of this Babylonian system can found in government, churches, sports & entertainment, retail merchandise, retail stores and on and on…it is everywhere.

The Babylonian system is a fairly deep rabbit hole and world leaders are working hard to revive this system. This is the end goal of the United Nations. Even though on the surface it seems like the U.N. is a mamby pamby good for nothing outfit, they are well on the way to achieving their goals. While the masses sit idly by and watch, the U.N. has gone about subverting the nations of world to join into this system of Satan worshipping religious governance.

There is a lot of discussion about Cern of late, as they are firing up the large hadron collider again. One of the things I find most interesting about this organization is its funding. There are few nations of the world not involved with Cern on some level. No doubt there are those who would like to argue participation for the sake of science and that may be partly true, but the evidence seems to indicate that science is only a cover. (http://home.web.cern.ch/)

Cern is generally considered to be an organization devoted to science, but again, I don’t think so. Cern is a religious organization if there ever was one. Some of what they do might fall under the umbrella of science, but their end goal is spiritual. Alternative media postulates that Cern is trying to tear a hole in the fabric of time and space or open a portal into the spirit dimension allowing spirit beings to enter the dimension of time.

I do not understand the mechanics of this but I do know that it is not good. Some say Cern is trying to resurrect Nimrod (aka Baal\Marduk\the sun god) and\or bring Nephilim from the spirit dimension through the portal into time. I don’t know if this is true or possible, but I do know that the things Cern is doing might be better described as black magic than science. There is very little good that can come from Cern’s experiments. Cern is beginning to look more and more like a reincarnation of the tower Babel. This is all very subjective though and again we need to be careful not to judge end times by people and events on the ground.

That said, Matthew 24:37 can be interpreted rather subjectively.  We know what the days of Noah were like, but determining if that is where we are at now could be a matter of interpretation. I only bring this up because it is often the focus of end time discussion.

Scripture does, however, offer some very specific information to help determine the times in which we live. I wonder if we have a difficult time decoding this information because we try to understand scripture through the lense of society today, rather than the lense of the times in which it was written. Scripture is very easily misinterpreted without an understanding of the times when scripture was written and how the Most High related to his chosen people, the Israelites. Without the historical context of scripture there will be a huge blind spot in our spiritual vision and scriptural understanding.

Another problem that I believe plagues our vision is our Greco\Roman way of thinking. Western culture tends to compartmentalize life. So, when we should be stepping back and taking a look at the whole of what is happening and attempting to understand how different events fit together or affect other things we tend to hone in on a single event without understanding its effect on the whole. This makes it very easy for the media (main stream and alternative) to focus attention on one thing while diverting attention away from something that could be far more serious in the grand scheme of things. Recall The Wizard of Oz, “Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.”

In the same way western religious teachers compartmentalize scripture. The majority of main stream Christian religious circles teach that the Law given to Moses and the Israelites was nailed to the cross and is no longer relevant to us today. This could not be further from the truth. If you do not understand the Law and the purposes of the Law, you cannot possibly understand end times eschatology or many other concepts taught by Jesus and the Apostles. I do not think this means that we are to live by the ceremonial letter of the law, but we must at least seek to understand it. It is paramount to understanding the times that we live in.

Scripture plainly states that Jesus came to fulfill the law, not do away with it. Jesus himself also said that one jot or tittle of the law would not pass away until all was fulfilled. All has not yet been fulfilled.

Matthew 5:18

For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished.

In order to fully grasp the information in scripture about the last days, we need to rewind back to the beginning. At the time of creation when the Most High created the heavens, he stated that the lights in the heavens would be for signs and seasons.

Genesis 1:14 (ESV)

And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years

The word seasons here should not be understood as winter, spring, summer, and fall, rather it should be interpreted as appointed times.

Moed- appointed time

1. appointed time (general)

2. sacred season, set feast, appointed season

There are a number of other scriptures that speak of appointed times:

Leviticus 23:2, 4

Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts. These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.

Psalm 104:19

He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down.

Daniel 8:19

He said, “Behold, I will make known to you what shall be at the latter end of the indignation, for it refers to the appointed time of the end

The words feasts and seasons in these verses are the same Hebrew word,  moed, that is used in Genesis 1:14.  I think the first thing to understand is that the end times\last days\tribulation are appointed times, they are not a random occurrence or something that any man or group of men can conjure up. There is quite a lot of fear mongering that would lead you to believe that the end of days is being conjured up and the shadow government, or the elite, or whoever will hit the  SHTF button and tribulation will commence and lead many to believe this is the scriptural end of days. This is inaccurate according to the scriptures we have just examined.

The feasts of the Lord spoken of in Leviticus 23 are the appointed times that tell us when to expect different end times events to occur, hence my statement above about understanding the Levitical Law given to Israelites.  The idea that the feasts and the Law were nailed to the cross and done away with kinda throws the baby out with the bath water. These feasts of the Lord are all prophetic and foreshadow future events that have either been fulfilled are will be fulfilled by Jesus.

In fact these appointed times are spoken of in the New Testament after the Christ’s ascension as well:

1Thessalonians 5:1-2

But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.

The Thessalonians were fully aware of the correlation between the appointed feast times and the day of the Lord. The day of the Lord spoken of here is the same appointed time called “The latter end of the indignation” in Daniel 8:19 mentioned above.

Scripture gives some specific celestial events to watch for:

Joel 2:31

The sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the great and awesome day of the LORD comes.

Acts 2:20

the sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the day of the Lord comes, the great and magnificent day.

Revelation 6:12

When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood,

It is possible that these events are occurring now as we are presently in the period of a lunar tetrad during which there are also two solar eclipses with all blood moons occurring on Jewish feast days.

There is also the sign of the woman in the heavens mentioned in Revelation:

Revelation 12:1

And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.

The next time this celestial event occurs is believed to be September 23, 2017.  (Here is a website that discusses this in further detail (http://watchfortheday.org/1260tetrad.html).

Tetrad

This brings us to the final significant celestial mention in scripture related to the end of time.

Joel 2:10

The earth quakes before them; the heavens tremble. The sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining.

Joel 3:15

The sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining.

Matthew 24:29

“Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

Mark 13:24

“But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light,

Revelation 8:12

The fourth angel blew his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, and a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of their light might be darkened, and a third of the day might be kept from shining, and likewise a third of the night.

These verses describe an unimaginable cataclysmic event of some kind. There have been other events in scripture that were similar to what Christ is describing here. One was Joshua’s long day; another is the Christ’s crucifixion. There is some compelling evidence that these events may have been caused by another planet orbiting through our solar system and therefore a possible cause of what is expected to occur during the end of days.

In closing I would strongly encourage you to keep your eyes focused on the heavens above to ascertain the times in which we live. The gloom and doom predictions are coming fast and furious based on events on the ground. It is very likely that these events are symptoms of the times in which we live, but it is unwise to use these events as guideposts.

Put your faith in the Messiah and trust that he will take care of you during these difficult times. Keep your eyes fixed on him not earthly circumstances. Be careful of anyone who is predicting biblical events based on earthly events. End Time events are scheduled and will not be rescheduled. The Most High has declared the end from the beginning. Rest in that and know that he has your back.

Isaiah 46:8-10 (RSV)

8 “Remember this and consider,

recall it to mind, you transgressors,

9     remember the former things of old;

for I am God, and there is no other;

I am God, and there is none like me,

10 declaring the end from the beginning

and from ancient times things not yet done,

saying, ‘My counsel shall stand,

and I will accomplish all my purpose,’

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
